There are three standing subcommittees.
Ad-hoc committees are occasionally formed for special reasons, such as elections.
Identifies public facility needs and makes recommendations regarding parks and open spaces, libraries, law enforcement and fire stations, sewer and water lines, storm drains, power lines, joint use agreements, the Capital Improvement Program, public artworks, etc. Also provides a forum for discussion about proposed changes to Balboa Park, adjacent to North Park.
Advises the Planning and Traffic Departments of the City of San Diego and the District Three City Council member on North Park traffic, parking, streets, bike lanes, signage, and public transportation issues. Identifies and prioritizes various traffic problems that need calming measures including pedestrian crosswalks and requests for stop signs at various locations. Will help implement the Mobility Element of the North Park Community Plan.
Supports transparent, and accessible communication between the North Park Planning Committee, community members, stakeholders, and elected officials. The subcommittee manages outreach tools, public information materials, and engagement strategies to ensure residents are informed about North Park Planning Committee meetings, actions, and opportunities for participation. The subcommittee also provides support for initiatives advanced by the subcommittees.
